Your suggestion to give priority to the include and linking paths of the build 
and install directories sounds like a good idea.

I'll eventually, give it a try, but as I'm on MacOS I'll have additional 
problems ... so I'm hoping on of you Linux guys can find a solution that I may 
build on.
