I have the same problem.  I don't have a fix for it, but a workaround is to use octave to close/open (i.e. close/figure) windows, instead of closing it using the close button on the window.

Basically, I don't think octave can currently figure out that you've closed a window through your OS.

Hi, if I close a plot no new plots will be created on the screen with

I get no error messages. Calls to figure() still return normal, but nothing
shows up on the screen.
I've made plots using just gnuplot, closed the window, and subsequent plots
display fine.

I use Ubuntu Feisty, gnuplot 4.0 patchlevel 0, GNU Octave, version 2.9.9
(i486-pc-linux-gnu).
However this same error occurs in Windows XP.

Would someone help me out, please?
