I search the web for answers, but I couldn't find any.
I am using Fedora Core 4 and I did all the updates.
Please help me!!!

It appears that you have mixed compilers on your system. GCC is at version 4.0.2 in FC4, and you are using an old fortran compiler, probably from a previous version of Fedora. You should install gcc-gfortran, and remove gcc-g77, and I think your problems will go away. However, unless you are trying to compile version 2.9.x of Octave, there's no need to compile version 2.1.x because it is already in Fedora Extras. The command "yum install octave" as root should install octave version 2.1.72 for you automatically.
