Ah, you are one of the fortunate few Windows Octave users who are on
what we here call the "home stretch" (rather than still in the pit)!
But seriously, I think your fix is quite straightforward:
- create a directory somewhere where your temp files will be stored
- in autoexec.bat, add the line
SET TMP={your new directory, wherever that may be}
- reboot your computer
To make things Octave-friendly, {your new directory} should not contain
any spaces or long directory names (keep each subfolder, if any, shorter
than 8 chars). I personally use
SET TMP=d:\tmp
Good luck

Subject: installation under Windows 95
Hi
I downloaded the file octave-windows-2000oct25d.exe from the sourceforge
site.
I intend to have Octave installed under my Windows 95 PC. I ran the .exe
file and, apparently, it said that the installation was succesfull;
however, when I double-clicked on the desktop icon for Octave there
arose a DOS window, stating that
bash.exe: warning: could not find /tmp, please create!
start: /WINDOWS/COMMAND/start: No such file or directory
I have also checked the subdirectories under E:\Octave (where I decided
to install the software), and the home, the src and the tmp directories
were all empty...
Can you provide some help?
Thank you in advance!
