I'm trying to install Octave on Windows 95. I believe I followed the
installation instructions corrected, but I get an error message upon
start up:
The OCTAVE.EXE file is linked to missing export CYGWIN.DLL: setpwent
I'm new to GNU and OCTAVE so I'm not sure if I installed something
incorrectly, or I'm not starting it up right. I installed it using the
following steps:
1. I installed usertools.exe. This seemed to work OK. I made sure that
sh.exe was in the /bin directory.
2. I added c:Ügnuwin32Üb18Üh-i386-cygwin32Übin to my PATH
3. I put a copy of the termcap file in the /etc directory
4. I installed less. I did this by untar'ing it from within bash
using: tar zxf less-gnu-win32.tar.gz
5. I untar'ed octave by executing the following within bash: tar zxf
octave-2.0.12-i386-pc-cygwin32
6. I installed octave using ./install-octave in bash
7. I added /octave/bin to my PATH
I tried to invoke octave both from within bash, from DOS, and from the
windows explorer. I get the same error in all cases.
Thank you for the help.
