Compiling Octave -- Necessary Terminal Libraries? |

I recently downloaded the latest source for Octave (octave-2.1.21)
and tried to compile. During configuration I got the following
message:
configure: warning: I couldn't find -ltermcap, -lterminfo,
-lncurses, -lcurses, or -ltermlib!
So, do I need all of these? Or just some of them. My disk space
is somewhat tight so I don't want to install more development
libraries than I need. This information would be a good to add
to the FAQ section that discusses requirements to compile octave.
Also, I was impressed by the number of new functions (in control,
anyway) for the development version. Is octave going to be launched
as a release version anytime soon?
