size of windows opened by gnuplot

Two "gnuplot" questions:

1)How can I control size and position on my screen of windows
(figure(1), figure(2), etc.) opened by "gnuplot"?

2)Is it possible to prevent "gnuplot" of opening files in the hard disk
while it works? I guess, the answer is no but maybe someone knows
better!?
