The cure has already been posted by John Eaton, look in the mailing
archives of either help-octave or bugs-octave.

They are not supported. However you can find a patch in the
octave-sources mailing-list or at <http://merlin,inescn.pt/~qual/Octave>
I think that the 2.1.13 patch applies without change to 2.1.14.
