In general there' no way in octave. It is a numerical package.
You could try to loop throug a while and compare sum_(i) and sum_(i-1),
but you should be aware that this could be a catastrophy.
Theres no symbolic math in octave right now to do such things.
Use your math basics for converging series.

Well differentiate it by hand or use multiple finite differences (could
be poor).
