octave troubles

Dear Sir,

I do still have some problems with octave
If I enter

t = [0:10]
linespace(0,10,10)

Octave is doing very well ;

However, when entering :

t=[0:50]:
or linespace(0:50,200)
or whos -builtin
a.s.o.
I always get the answer :

sh: less  not found

Is there perhaps some parameter that has to be tuned to manipulate larger 
problems ?

I'm working on an AXP station : DEC 3000 - 600,
                                OSF1 V3.0
