large binary size for octave-1.1.1

the size for octave-1.1.1 on sun sparc 4.1.3 seems to be really huge: some 8mb+.
i think the size for 1.1.0 was around 2mb+ only. i had compiled with 
--enable-dld and
--enable-lite-kernel.

is there anyway to reduce the size ? or am i doing something wrong here ? i had 
compiled
with gcc-2.6 with sun f77 2.0.
