Thanks for the try. I was already aware of that mechanism.
Once you do that, as long as you don't make any changes that alter the menu entry text, then the default will remain regardless of what OSs etc Gurb finds during config build. I have several systems where the default is not the first entry.
I have other constraints that give me exactly two choices: 1. automate *everything* 2. automate *nothing*I have a manual system that is complete, correct, and (in a sense) elegant. The three points I made in my post were a minimum specification of completeness and correctness - though quite inelegant.
