Thanks for the advice Jordan.
I followed your instructions and things looks better:

"
sda3: __________________________________________________________________________

    File system: ntfs
    Boot sector type: Windows Vista/7
Boot sector info: No errors found in the Boot Parameter Block.
    Operating System: Windows Vista
    Boot files: /bootmgr /Boot/BCD /Windows/System32/winload.exe
"

It did not resolve the problem as I expected.
Before the machine would just hang when I try to boot into Vista.
Now the machine will just reboot when I try to boot into Vista.
I reinstalled GRUB but that didn't seem to help.

Do you have any more advice for me?
