I saw nothing in the OP to indicate Grub2 was being used. I always presume 
when Grub2 is not explicitly mentioned that Grub Legacy is the subject, 
regardless that this list is supposed to be for Grub2 support only.

I understand that can be confusing, which is _a_ reason why none of my 30+ 
systems, most of which are multiboot with at least 3 installed operating 
systems, have any Grub version installed on any MBR.
