Oooops! This was wrong as wrong can be, I'm mixing my home computer (SuSE) 
with Caldera at work. At home Lily is running smoothly after the second 
install, Caldera still got this libguile problem. 
I do not know if the lib path is OK on the Caldera box, I have to check that 
on tuesday when I get there.
