Thanks a lot for sending me the letters. However, while I now feel to get
a little more comfortable with the evaluator, I still do not see how
compiled closures can be used to avoid the problems with
tail-recursiveness that applicable smobs have. The only example that I
currently see for compiled closures are gprocs, and this is not an example
that can explain the point to me: In the case of gprocs the compiled
closure is only used to wrap a call to a C function - thus, no
tail-recursiveness to be seen here :-)
Is there an example for the use of compiled closures in a tail-recursive
way?
