Yup. Unfortunately Win2k/XP/ME do not support real mode drivers anymore (that's the future of MS products, I'm afraid). The replacement for ansi.sys that works in protected memory mode (ansi.com) is more difficult to find than a white elephant, and caused some instability in my system because it isn't a 32-bit executable (at least the copy I found).
