Details:

Currently the only way to calculate the FITS CHECKSUM and DATASUM  keywords in
the FITS program is through writing them in the headers!!!

But this is very bad when you don't actually want to modify the file. We
should add two options to only calculate them and print them on the standard
output. CFITSIO already has the necessary function: `fits_get_chksum' (and
`fits_encode_chksum' to encode the checksum intiger into a string).
