There's no /usr/include/limits.h on Solaris? Strange. There was
similiar problem with win32, am I correct?

Try the following patch:
Index: include/compat.h
===================================================================
RCS file: /cvsroot/gnokii/gnokii/include/compat.h,v
retrieving revision 1.49
diff -u -r1.49 compat.h

#ifdef HAVE_LIMITS_H
#  include <limits.h>
