Xgnokii problems

I have successfully compiled gnokii with no apparent errors, and it appears to run fine. 
However if I launch xgnokii I get the message:

GLib-ERROR **: could not allocate 1073742595 bytes
aborting...
Aborted

Running Mandrake 10.0 with kernel 2.6.3-16
Does anyone know what this means?
