Spoke too soon.  I tried a simple hello.mod wth gm2-4.7.3.  Compiled 
without a problem but then stopped with the following:

gm2cc: error trying to exec 'cc1plus': execvp: No such file or directory

(Invoking with "-v" shows that gm2-4.1.2 does not invoke cc1plus.)

What is cc1plus?
