Good Job!

I wish I had such mirrors nearby. I've downloaded the Gusty x86_64 image and deleted the image as soon as burned it onto CD. In the end I found disk was half burned. It was very painful to download the distro over low speed broadband.

BTW how much free space is left over Glug-Server? You can even mirror OpenSuse 10.3 it's a good distribution.

If you think there is ample amount of space you can try to mirror ubuntu repo's so that updates and  the installation of packages will be faster all over the campus. I think Disk space shouldn't be a problem. We might be having TB's of space on some of our servers and you can try NFS mounting them on our Glug server. Choose one distro as main line distro (I would suggest ubuntu) and provide full support in terms of repos and all.

Did any one tried to bring up broadcom wireless bcm43xx device on Ubuntu? I've tried all the possible ways like wrappers and fwcutters but it didnt worked. May be i'm missing some step. If it worked for any one. Please let me know. My laptop series is Compaq V3000.

Thanks In Advance!

Cheers
Vijay

Right now we do not have enough space on the server alone and the entire space
will be going to the Ubuntu and Fedora repos and isos that will be maintained
on the server along with the GNU mirror. Ubuntu and Fedora are the 2 mainstream
distributions which are mostly used in College and because of space constraints
we will be maintaining the i386 and x86_64 repos and isos of the most current
release of Ubuntu and Fedora ie. Ubuntu 7.10 and Fedora 8 as of now.

Yes, once we have these fully functional repos we can talk to the sysadmins on
the various ways they might let us add more space on the server. That would be
great, then we can probably mirror OpenSUSE as well which does not have any
user as of now. We can put up some isos in http://downloads.glug-nith.org/
though to see if someone wants to try it.

Regards,
Vivek
