[Gdbheads] Let's resolve this quickly

I'm sorry to send a blunt message about sensitive issues, something I
normally don't do. But I'm simply too frustrated to hold the steam
any longer.

As far as I'm concerned, these discussions started in last November.
(Others were involved since several weeks before that.) It is end of
March as I write this, and we've got nowhere. Dozens of threads
spanning several mailing lists and private email produced thousands of
words and several potentially useful suggestions, but no actions.

Moreover, there are no signs that any actions are anywhere near.

As discussions drag on and on, they have lately come dangerously close
to sparring. If the underlying issues aren't resolved VSN, I believe
we will very soon have a full-fledged public personal conflict between
some of the more talented individuals on the GDB team, a conflict
that, once it unfolds, will be impossible to repair.

Am I the only one around here who has experience in leading a group of
professionals in highly technical projects? Does anyone else besides
myself understand that such personal tensions within the team need to
be resolved very quickly, if the team's integrity is to be preserved?
Don't our intuition as well as bitter experience tell us that we ought
to hurry? I believe I'm not the only one who knows all that, but
reading these discussions for months on end surely makes me wonder.

Wake up, the Committee, whoever you are! Open your eyes, the FSF and
the GNU Project! Whatever alternative of the suggested solutions you
like, let's implement it, but by God, let's do that quickly! Let's do
it today and then let's try to put all this behind us and get back to
our business of maintaining GDB.

It is not too late, but it will be if we do not hurry.
