Hi all

Details of the ARCSPACE launch  worth coming down for every one that
wants to get involved in projects

please find attached the new leaflet for Arcspace Manchester, which
has its community launch on Sat 18th April 10am to 6pm at St Wilfred's
Enterprise Centre, Royce Road, Hulme.

We have a new hub with recycled computers (running Ubuntu) set up, and
on the launch day we will be offering a range of FREE WORKSHOPS,
talks, lunch and much more as part of our Mapping Creativity project
in association with Manchester Beacon, St Wilfrid's and the North West
Development Agency, TGL.TV.

In the morning upstairs we have free alternative therapies including
tekno yoga, reiki, indian head massage expressive visual art -
-leading into story telling workshops and local interactive mapping
sessions.

Downstairs in the lab we have a host of workshops - Drupal, recycling
computers, Linux and Ubuntu and we recommend that you sign up
beforehand to avoid disappointment.  The tekky workshops are from

10 to 11.30 - informal hack lab activities

11.30 to 12.30 computer recycling workshop

12.30 to 1.30 Drupal workshop (tbc)   - possibly other peer to peer
sessions on the other computers in different software

1.30 to 2.30 Linux/Ubuntu Workshop workshop

2.30 to 3.30 TGL TV – innovative new community mapping tool and
alternative currency project

3.30 to 4.30 Community discussion about the area, plans for local
development including MMU and mapping consultation session

4.30 onwards   - informal hack lab and networking

There is also some break away space in the afternoon for things like
Gimp workshops etc upstairs

There will be light lunch and refreshments provided and please come
with an open mind and feel feel to share your own ideas and creativity
– we want to help people find a way to locate and be located  – this
is about free knowledge transfer in its grass roots form, and it is
for us as a community to express how we feel about our area, our work,
the future – and now.

local area of Hulme, or mapping creativity during the Futuresonic

couple of (paid) slots left.   Please send us one paragraph on what
you would like to offer  - - we invite you to think laterally, be
inclusive of diverse cultural groups, and of course - - - to make us
think about our position in our environment, especially during these -
- - - - -interesting times.....
