Thank you for this, John. I don't think there has been significant work on SOs since you last worked on it in March 2002, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I've forgotten.
The last copy I posted (I've not worked on this while actively treasurer AFAIK) can be seen via http://web.archive.org/web/20030423033612/http://www.cloaked.freeserve.co.uk/affs-so.html but as Alasdair noted in http://mail.gnu.org/archive/html/fsfe-uk/2002-02/msg00095.html there were still many problems with them. If you want any other documents from that era, I can probably post them for you.
