There is a news story about the e-Government Metadata Standard consultation at http://www.cetis.ac.uk/content2/20040123155536 - this looks like a step forwards. Did I miss any flaw in it?

I've not had chance to keep track on the numerous e-learning metadata standards that are out there. I'm glad to read that folk are sticking to Dublin Core as a base:

- this small metadata set is sufficient in most cases to locate content.
- if the metadata set gets too large then the content producers will not metatag their content; sometimes it is difficult to get a user to fill in an email subject line. - SCORM, IMS metadata standards etc, have embodied with in them two presumptions:

- the teaching / pedagogy model ... this means that learning content is forced to take the shape of 'learning objects'
        - these learning objects are owned and are for sale

Hope this helps.
