It would be interesting to know how many trainee teachers satisfy their
PGCE IT requirements with open-source, or even non-M$, programs. I
largely managed the latter (WordPerfect for linux, standard sc
spreadsheets, xv for linux etc) and raised a few eyebrows when I moaned
at only being taught about MS-Office products.
(This was 98-99 at Cheltenham & Gloucester CHE, when I was a mature, nay
over-ripe, student in my early 50s)
