Hello,

2006/2/3, Monika Shah <address@hidden>:
We have tested gargi(version 1.9) on all platforms(Gnu/Linux & Windows - openoffice1.1.3, 1.4, 2.0, kwrite, mozilla, firefox, Word, notepad, IE, etc)  and it works fine on each.
We are also trying to figure out the differences between gargi and FreeSans and is we are able to locate any then we will forward it to you.

Perhaps we can make a simpler test first: I will open the TrueType font gargi.ttf with Fontforge, convert quadratic splines to cubic, simplify splines (these are actually two of the steps I did when merging Gargi with FreeSans), and then export it back as TrueType font. I plan to send the file to you only, since not all the readers of the mailing list neccessary appreciate being bombed with large attachments.

If possible please let us know how do you merge fonts. I basically want to ask that is there any other method by which font of one language (unicode) can be merged with font of other language(unicode) without actally doing copy-paste work for each glyph?
Secondly if other method is possible will it retain all its properties like anchor points, ligatures etc in merged font?

I merged the fonts using a procedure that is basically the same as the one described on <http://www.gnowledge.org/Gnoware/localization/merge.htm>; the only difference is that instead of copy/paste functions I used Fontforge's function Element -> Merge fonts.

With kind regards,
Primoz
