Hi Bio team

After thinking about everything quite a bit since last night I have a strategy proposal.

We create the FHSST Biology book on WikiBooks (http://www.wikibooks.com) from scratch. The benefits are:

 - the current book will always be available at a central location
 - we won't have to email files backward and forward
 - it will always be backed up and secure
 - any issues about what program or format to use no longer apply
 - all you need is a browser and some time
 - there is a lot of content available on WikiBooks which can be
used so there are no issues with converting formats
 - the initial learning curve for using the wikibooks site is small
and there is dedicated help available
 - its very visible so may help with further recruiting

Its easiest if you have an internet connection but if you only have one intermittently then you could work on any text editor and when you are connected just go to WikiBooks and upload your contribution.

Sam and I will, later on, convert it to a book format. This would probably be a weekend of work (I think).

I can make the initial template for the book ( a requirement for creating a book on WikiBooks) and then we could work on filling in the outline into the book. From there on we just assign sections to people and they just go to the site and edit the section they are working on.

Does anyone have any objections to this - please let me know what you think?

Cheers,

Mark
