[Enigma-devel] Proposal for level management

Hi!

I have observed that levels are regularly broken again with new versions of
Enigma. So I would like to make a proposal:
Maybe it would make sense to create a database of levels where everybody can
post in which state they are for different versions of Enigma.

Maybe you know the project 'DOSbox' (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/). It is an
Dos-Emulator for playing old Dos-games. They have a big compatability database
of games: http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/comp_list.php. You can look up a game,
see how good it worked in different versions and look up configuration advices
of other users.
Let's have an example:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/comp_list.php?showID=296&letter=Z
It was broken in 0.58 (0%), was playable in 0.60 (35%) and works fairly good
since 0.61 (95%). Some advices from other users may help you to get it running.
You can add comments or set 'version-support' for the current version (0.62).
The database is readable for everybody but you have to register to post or to
set 'version-support'.

Maybe that would help for Enigma as well. Having a database of all levels where
everybody can set how well they work in different versions (e.g. "broken",
"works, but not as desired by the creator", "works flawlessly").
New releases could for example only include levels that are reported as working
and users could easily report broken levels. Or the last known state could be
exported from the database when creating a release and shown in Enigma.

Just my 2 cents...
