Besides, does a version of tolua for Lua 5 exist? And is it compatible with the old version?
toLua 5 does exist. It is, as one might expect, a version of toLua for the Lua-5.0 API. Since it is just the next version of the same program I suspect it maintains compatibility. See the tolua 5 tarball for details.tolua homepage: http://www.tecgraf.puc-rio.br/~celes/tolua/
