We could do it also for temporary files and processes. But that's it,
like you wrote, everything else is too specific for the given test, and
must be handled by the test coder.
The ERT manual is very explicit about this in (info "(ert) Tests and
Their Environment") . However, what is missing in the manual are the
helper macros from ert-x.el, existing and upcoming. Perhaps we should
add a new section, for example in (info "(ert) Extending ERT") .
