I'll add that "(emacs)Modifier Keys" says: A <Control>-modified alphabetical character is always considered case-insensitive: Emacs always treats ‘C-A’ as ‘C-a’, ‘C-B’ as ‘C-b’, and so forth. The reason for this is historical.
