The version of WIkipedia I use is from kiwix.org, which uses the .zim
format.  I use that because there is a FRirefox add-on to do lookups
in it.

I don't know how these formats compare.  Maybe one is better than the other.
Maybe it is a toss-up.

it does not matter in principle which of these formats or software
can do local lookup in,  That is just a practical issue.
