I don't exactly remember my words, but I think I said that the s.el aliases
would pollute the name space.

These renamings for regexp-related functions might be ok as a renaming:
a plan to obsolete the current names, perhaps 5 or 10 years from now,
and switch to the new cleaner names.

That is why I am working on the question of what renamings to do.
