The ergoemacs page is exactly what you need if (1) you already know how to
operate on strings in some other programming language that is typical of today,
(2) you don't care about the edge cases and details, on which the page
can be wrong.

There are topics for which this approach is adequate for many users,
but that is not true of all topics.
