Hmm.. maybe. The fact is that currently I build using the MSYS2 
procedure 
(https://sourceforge.net/p/msys2/wiki/Contributing%20to%20MSYS2), i.e. 
with their build script PKGBUILD etc.

I will try to setup the build differently to verify your conjecture..
