At least for me, the current setting is more convenient for
word-base operations (e.g. M-f M-b M-del M-d).

We tend to have these similar names:
   THIS-FUNCTION-DO-THIS
   THIS-FUNCTION-DO-THIS-AND-THAT
   THIS-FUNCTION-DO-THIS-AND-THAT-OR-ELSE
   THIS-FUNCTION-DO-ELSE

Even in incremental search, with the current syntax setting,
we can do C-s C-w C-w C-w C-s ... to search for all
occurances of "THIS-FUNCTIN-DO".
