OK, now, so I've successfully burnt a couple of DVD-R data discs.

Now I try a test video disc. It all seems to burn OK, except when I then re-insert the DVD-R into my drive, xine starts up & 'hangs' and 100% CPU. I gave it 30-odd seconds before killing it (-9, <Ctrl-C> failed). My 'real' player won't have any of it, but it's getting on a bit & may not like DVD-Rs anyway.

The only immediately obvious oddity is that on my H/D I have 'AUDIO_TS' and 'VIDEO_TS', which is also how film DVDs show up when mounted as DVD-ROMs, but my burnt disc has 'audio_ts' & 'video_ts' (and ditto all the files in 'video_ts': all lower-case where all DVD films I've tried have upper case.

growisofs -speed=4 -dvd-compat -Z /dev/scd1 -V P9016DVD -dvd-video /usr/data/burn/test Executing 'mkisofs -V P9016DVD -dvd-video /usr/data/burn/film-dvd/mplayer | builtin_dd of=/dev/scd1 obs=32k seek=0'

  So - any thoughts?

One other thing - the data discs I created were using .iso files from xcdroast; this is the first growisofs-only burn I've tried.
