thanks for this hint. I was just confused by these cryptic python
errors (not very familiar with python) that I expected something
serious.

Actually, I discovered that my duplicity tried to put
/var/named/chroot/proc/kcore into the backup. That does not really
make sense, so I just fixed my exclude list. Everything is fine now.
