Hi Richard,
thanks for caring. But I fear the current state is not the desired solution.
I made a test file with first only one staff and leading rests.
As you said its not possible to add lyrics to a rest now. But it is possible to
enter Lyrics on a rest, they just don't get saved directly. In my eyes this is
not the right solution, the Enter-Lyric-dialog should not pop up on a rest in
this case. You still can enter complex lyrics and if you hit return they are
all gone, this is very frustrating.
If you want to stay at "no lyrics starting on rests" please completely deactive
the lyric-dialog and give out a warning or something (I still hope for a
log-console-frame where this is not a annoying popup).
Second in the current version its not possible to add lyrics to a staff with
leading rests at all. They are inserted in Denemo but there is no lilypond
output. Plus other weird behaviour like shifted lyrics if you start the lyrics
in the middle of a piece instead of the first object.
For me personally I got the best resulsts with starting on the first note as
lyric-anchor and adding underscores if the lyrics have to start later than the
first note.
And as I said, I think if you do it other than this (starting at the desired
point directly) its not working as expected.
For this style the best solution would be allowing lyrics starting on (the very
first) rest of a staff, too. Its a unified behaviour.
Nils
P.S. maybe one of the few people who want to help Denemo other than Richard and
Jeremiah are interested in a more feature-rich Lyirc-Editor or better
Denemo-representation (showing the lyrics where they will appear in the
lilypond output).
