ddd does not start/undefined symbol: __dynamic_cast_2

fi folks,
I downloaded a RPM version of ddd and can't get it running. Started 
from the terminal with "ddd --perl" it says:
ddd: error while loading shared libraries: ddd: undefined symbol: 
__dynamic_cast_2

what is missing? any libraries? something to do with configuration?

system is a suse linux 7.1/2.4.0/AMD. I did not install lesstif but 
rather openmotif-2.1.30MLI4-14. 

any hints?
