FWIW I have used Sony quad-layer (128GB) BD-R and tri-layer (100GB)
BD-RE discs for several years with xorriso and a Pioneer BDR-AD07 USB
drive with no problems, and more recently also with a Hitachi-LG
desktop drive. So at least there shouldn't be any intrinsic
incompatibility between xorriso and multi-layer BD-R(E).
(The Hitachi drive appears to have problems dealing with unaligned
writes from the kernel's UDF filesystem, but this hasn't affected
reading UDF/9660 volumes nor sequential writing by programs such as
xorriso.)
