Here's the relatively new FAQ (thanks to Bob Proulx!):

Thanks for the info. Is there any way to get that listed on
the GNU site textutils page or the README?

       http://www.gnu.org/directory/textutils.html

Where did that page come from? I had never known that page existed.
But something is updating it somewhat. Does anyone have any
information on the pages under /directory/? Otherwise I will track
that down with the gnu.org folks. That page is unknown to me.

I'm not sure where I would have found the FAQ besides searching
google for it, though I admit I probably didn't dig too hard.

Having found that other rogue page would have been a red herring for
anyone. But here is what I expected. If you had looked at the main
gnu.org pages they would have led you through his path.

  http://www.gnu.org/
  http://www.gnu.org/software/software.html
  http://www.gnu.org/software/textutils/textutils.html

I consider the pages under /software/*utils.html to be the main
pages. In all of those pages for file, text, shell, you will find a
pointer to the FAQ.

That is so funny. Because I do almost the exact same clicks.
When you start at this one:

    http://www.gnu.org/

you see the main page, which shows this line of links:

The Free Software Directory | GNU Software | GNU Projects | Licenses |
Developer Resources

Apparently, you always click "GNU Software," but I always click
"The Free Software Directory."

      http://www.gnu.org/directory/index.html

Once I go there, I always choose "All packages"

      http://www.gnu.org/directory/listing.html

and then scroll down the page and click "textutils"

      http://www.gnu.org/directory/textutils.html

and then the "Web Page" link. I guess you fixed that one,
though I'm getting confused now :) Best I go eat some dinner.

Regards,
Matthew
