    I have just verified that your problem is solved by the --no-ifinfo option.
    This option not only means that "@ifinfo" blocks are skipped, it also
    menas that "@ifnotinfo" blocks are read.
    (Alper or Karl, are you willing to improve the docs?)

Ok, I added this to texinfo.txi and a sentence to makeinfo --help.
Thanks.

    There is a problem though: the --iftex option opens not only @iftex blocks,
    but also @tex blocks; and I can easily imagine that the parser can choke
    on a TeX code. (Karl, Alper, could this be changed?)

Yes, that's exactly the problem, as I explained in comments in texi2dvi
when I first tried this approach. (The same thing can happen with
@html, @xml, @docbook.)

I guess the thing to do is write the @tex/whatever blocks literally.
I'll see if I can do that, although I'm not sure if it will be sufficient.
