Here is a suitable ChangeLog entry:

        Insert space before open-paren in C code fragments.
        * doc/standards.texi
        (Conditional Compilation): Say "if (...)", not "if( ...)".
        (Semantics): Say "fd = open (...)", not "fd = open(...)".
