Midnight Commander doesn't use ncurses' line-drawing as a curses application
might; it has a hard-coded table of UTF-8 strings which it equates to
ncurses's ACS_xxx symbols.
If you're considering modifying that, you
might want to discuss it with mc's developers.
If you want to test your private changes for ncurses,
it has several sample programs.
