When you say you tried to install the binary do you mean a binary via
Fink, or a download off a webpage? I used Fink to build a version here
on my G5 with OSX 10.3 (0.13-1 as it appears in fink). The program ran,
I got the splash screen it throws up another dialog box that complains
about no neural net weights file I click OK button and it runs gnubg
fine. Can you copy/paste the output you got on the console when you ran
gnubg and post it on the mailing list here?

I also use apt-get to retrieve the binaries and they ran okay here.

0.13 of gnubg is old. We are up to .14. 0.14-1 is functional on Mac OSX
and instructions (and downloads) can be found here:
 http://mapage.noos.fr/gnubgosx/installation.html

Try the instructions there and make sure you get the 10.3 version and
let me know what happens.
