Hi!
At 10:19 01.04.2004 +0100, you wrote:
I can't reproduce the problem here (by trying to play a sound which isn't
present whilst another sound is playing), I'm using windows xp - it could
be that different versions of windows act differently.
It could be so... I experienced it under W98SE and I have tested it under
W2k, with similar results, I have not tested XP.
I'll add some error messages if a sound file is missing or fails to play
(along the lines of your patch) - thanks.
While I tried it today, I have found an even bigger problem: When the
computer does not have any audio capabilities, both W98 and W2k seem to
return FALSE to PlaySound, but WITHOUT setting the last error to a nonzero
value. So gnubg hangs and my patch does not solve that problem.
As you probably have your computer equipped with a soundcard, you can test
this by disabling the soundcard in the device manager.
(Tested with build 040329 on W98SE, gnubg freezes while displaying "Doing
nothing in particular" in the splashscreen and I have to kill it via
Ctrl+Alt+Del.)
