Ordinary windows tooltips go away if you ALT_TAB.
Yes, this is certainly due to GTK+. The menu also remains in the
foreground when you ALT-TAB to another programme. It doesn't go away with
clicks on other areas of the screen and even stays active! A click on the
menu or the tooltip, respectively, makes it disappear, though.
